Brother Josh Spiers was born September 15, 1983 to Phil and Cindy Spiers. He was led to the Lord when he was 13 years old by his Grandfather, a Godly Baptist Deacon named Buddy Spiers, who Brother Josh affectionately calls “Papa.” Brother Josh’s Papa was his hero. He grew up at and was baptized at Lee’s Chapel #1 Baptist Church in Carriere, MS. He was also licensed to the Gospel Ministry there in 2003. He was called to preach when he was 17, and has wanted to do nothing else the rest of his life. Bro. Josh was ordained to the Gospel Ministry by Mount Carmel Baptist Church, December 3, 2005.

 

The Pastor he surrendered to preach under, Bro. Donnie Boutwell, gave Bro. Josh this advice: “Love preachers and love preaching.” He took that advice to heart. A great deal of Bro. Josh’s ministry has been directed toward encouraging, ministering to, and helping preachers and helping people who are not preachers fall in love with the preaching of the Word of God. He does this by his passionate, exciting method of preaching and by introducing others to preachers and sermons that he believes will encourage them in their specific need.

 

He is an Eagle Scout Recipient September, 2002. He Graduated from Pearl River Central High School in 2002. He Graduated from Southeastern Baptist College in Laurel, Mississippi with an Associates of Arts in 2005 and a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Pastoral Ministry in 2007, where he was also a Recipient of H.E.A.D.W.A.E. Outstanding Student Honoree of Southeastern Baptist College in 2006. Brother Josh has served in ministry in Port Orchard, Washington; Panama City, Florida; Carriere, Mississippi; Saucier, Mississippi; and is currently serving as Senior Pastor at Okahola Baptist Church in Purvis, Mississippi. From August 2009 till 2012 he had the distinct honor of serving as Chaplain of Harrison Central High School Basketball Team, one of the largest High Schools in the state of Mississippi. He has also served as a Chaplain for Pine Burr Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America and a Chaplain and Teacher of Pleasant Hill Baptist Academy.

 

He has proudly served as Director of Reviving the Passion of Preaching Ministries, a ministry he founded in 2007, in order to do what he loves best: encourage preachers and promote preaching.
